Dear Mr Davenport
Request for information 2018-377
I refer to your request for information dated 13 December 2018, which was received by Greater
Wellington Regional Council (GWRC) on 13 December 2018. You have requested the following
information:
“
I would like to request any procedures of Metlink or their contractors on what happens after a
train engineer goes through a red light in the Metlink network”
GWRC’s response follows:
If a train goes through a red light it is called a Signal Passed At Danger. The driver is immediately
stood down, and an investigation commenced.
The issue is notified to the regulator NZ Transport Agency, and GWRC is advised.
If you have any concerns with the decision(s) referred to in this letter, you have the right to request
an investigation and review by the Ombudsman under section 27(3) of the Local Government
Official Information and Meetings Act 1987.
Yours sincerely
Angus Gabara General Manager, Public Transport (Acting)
