Dear Hugh,
Thank you for your request made under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings
Act 1987 (the Act), received on 13 December 2018. You requested the following information:
•
Information or policies describing the minimum/average/maximum speeds that
cyclists are likely to travel on Wellington Roads.
In response to your request, Wellington City Council does not hold or have policies for planning
cyclist’s speeds in Wellington. In line with section 17(e) I am refusing this request as the
information you have asked for does not exist.
The Council does however, rely and refer to the NZ Transport Agencies cycling network guidance,
planning and design. Please refer to the link below –

guidance/cycling-network-guidance
Right of review
If you disagree with my decision you have the right, under section 27(3) of the Act, to ask the
Ombudsman to review and investigate my decision. Further information is available on the
Ombudsman website, www.ombudsman.parliament.nz.
Thank you for your request and please let me know if you need more assistance.
Regards,
Ana Nicholls
