Local Government Official Information and Meeting Act (LGOIMA) request for
information on the daily cycle counts on specific cycle paths around Dunedin.
I am writing to you regarding your LGOIMA request received on 30 January 2019, for
information on the daily counts from the automatic cycle counters in place on specific cycle
paths in Dunedin since they began operation. The daily counts for the Dunedin City Council’s
fixed cycle counters are attached for your information from 20 February 2014 through to 14
February 2019 and summarised in the table below.

Please be aware that counter recordings can be affected for a number of reasons, including: cycleway
upgrade work; battery replacement counters and community events which can result in nil daily recordings or
generate a spike in the numbers recorded.
Please note that the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) have fixed counters on Cumberland
Street, Great King Street and the Ravensbourne Cycle path in Dunedin. If you would like data
from these counters, please make contact with the NZTA directly.
