2. The total number of firearms licence holders and the total number of firearms
licences with each endorsement type per region in New Zealand.
Please release all of this information in spreadsheet format, preferably CSV or XSLX.
The information you requested in Question 1 in the requested format is provided in an
Excel file attached with this response. This data was drawn on 2 May 2019.
E-category is an endorsement on a licence. It was revoked on 12 April 2019. The
spreadsheet includes counts of people who held such an endorsement before it was
revoked.
Please note that one person can have multiple licences (eg, dealer and standard).
Therefore, numbers of licence holders cannot be calculated by adding all the different
licences. A unique total of people is provided at the bottom of each table.
For your information, Police has developed a process for proactive release of information,
so the response to your request may be publicly released on the New Zealand Police
website.
