Ministry Project Team
Dear Richard Nowland
I hope this letter sees you and your Ministry colleagues well. I would like to acknowledge our telephone
communications in the past week. We appreciate that there are time constraints, however, Rise UP
Academy EBOT has worked through the requirements and guidelines set by the Ministry for Designing
Schools in NZ and the directive set in the EIS Health & Safety Works to identify risks. I make note of the
correspondence between the Ministry; Board Chair; Principal, and the Minister since October 2018 thus
far, where the same issues were identified by members of the Rise UP Academy BOT now, EBOT is
looking forward to resolving the issues at hand for the sake of our students; teachers; community;
parents; and our Partnership Colleagues.
I have supplied two documents that cover Rise UP Academy’s responses. The first document addresses a
Review Rise UP Academy has compiled around the requirements and guidelines, taking direct
information from a number of documents and providing our concerns, and questions.
It was easier to follow this particular tracking of responsiveness to identify and relate each issue of
concern according to the guidelines and requirements set out by the MoE. We understand our legal
obligations and liability under the Health & Safety Act 2015, and it is for this purpose Rise UP Academy
EBOT are seeking full assurance that this Project has addressed all Health & Safety concerns to the
standard of BEST PRACTICE by the PCBU.
As you can appreciate the liability for all parties involved is of the highest consideration.
Yours sincerely,
Nerina Howe
Representative for Rise UP Academy EBOT
