I am writing to you in response to your Official Information Act 1982 request submitted on 13 April 2019 to the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC). As you are aware, DPMC transferred the below part of your request to Police for response: “What the response cost civil defense (and other responding organisations, if possible)”
New Zealand Police has expensed a total of $254,988 in relation to the Pigeon Valley fires. In addition we has 223 staff dedicated to the fire response between the dates of 5-27 February 2019. These costs are not separately captured and are not reported in the above figure.
