• How many, if any, transgender individuals in men’s prisons have requested to be transferred to a men’s prison in the last five years, broken down by year?
• What, if any, official advice has been to the current Minister about the placement of transgender prisoners?

transgender prisoners. In order to process your request, we require
clarification regarding the following question:
• How many, if any, transgender individuals in men’s prisons have
requested to be transferred to a men’s prison in the last five years,
broken down by year?
Please confirm, would you like to be provided with the number of
individuals who have requested to transfer from a men's prison to a
women's prison?
Once you have clarified this part of your request, it will be processed
and considered in accordance with the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA).

It's disappointing that the Department of Corrections has invoked section 9(2)(g)(i) of the OIA to withhold all the "Current issues" and most of the "Risks" they have identified with their policy and practice of handling transgender prisoners. I hope you'll consider asking the Office of the Ombudsman to investigate this partial refusal?
