Cost of "evaluating-the-use-of-1080"
T. Benseman made this Official Information request to Office of the Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment
Response to this request is long overdue. By law Office of the Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.
From: T. Benseman
Dear Office of the Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment,
What money has been paid for the report "evaluating-the-use-of-1080"and who paid this money? Is there some explanation to justify this payment, as it seems the approval has been purchased by the users of the substance being assessed?
Also, there were recommendations within the report and notes about essential research. These have not been done, have they? Does this mean that you are not relevant? Or is there some other reason why the poisoners ignore you?
Please note that this information has been paid for by tax payers such as myself and by law you are required to provide this information.
If you fail to freely provide this information via this PUBLIC FORUM, or attempt to obstruct the free flow of this information by placing tasks such as the posting of passports to you for evidence of citizenship, the fee I will need to charge you for this will be $500 plus GST per hour or part thereof. My terms of trade include that you are liable for collection fees, including interest at 20% per month, plus court and lawyers fees, should you fail to pay this amount once invoiced.
Thanks,
T. Benseman

We confirm receipt of your request for the following information: “What
money has been paid for the report "evaluating-the-use-of-1080"and who
paid this money? Is there some explanation to justify this payment, as it
seems the approval has been purchased by the users of the substance being
assessed?“.
Before we process your request we need to confirm that you are a person
described in section 12(1) of the Official Information Act 1987. This
includes:
(a)a New Zealand citizen; or
(b)a permanent resident of New Zealand; or
(c)a person who is in New Zealand; or
(d)a body corporate which is incorporated in New Zealand; or
(e)a body corporate which is incorporated outside New Zealand but which
has a place of business in New Zealand,
Can you please advise which of those criteria applies to you, and provide
evidence to confirm your status (such as a copy of your passport if you
are a citizen, or a letter from government to your New Zealand address if
you are a person who is in New Zealand). If you prefer, this evidence can
be emailed to us direct at [1][email address].
Please note that we do not pay for the provision of evidence of
eligibility. However, we would be very happy to discuss the options with
you to ensure that providing evidence is not onerous for you. Our phone
number is 64 4 471 1669. Alternatively, you may wish to seek advice from
the Office of the Ombudsmen on 0800 802 602, or to read their guidance on
section 12, which is available at:
[2]http://www.ombudsman.parliament.nz/resou...
(see p5).
You have also asked us to answer several questions which do not relate to
information we hold, and are therefore need to be dealt with outside the
Official Information Act regime, as follows:
“Also, there were recommendations within the report and notes about
essential research. These have not been done, have they? Does this mean
that you are not relevant? Or is there some other reason why the poisoners
ignore you?“
In 2013 we produced an update report that explains which of the
recommendations had been progressed at that time. The update report is
available at:
[3]https://www.pce.parliament.nz/media/1229...
In 2017 we produced a separate report called “Taonga of an island nation:
Saving New Zealand's birds” which describes some of the work being done to
explore other options for controlling predators. That report is available
at:

If you would like more detailed information about current research work
please let us know and we will do our best to assist you.
