VUW faculty name change details
Lisa Dymond made this Official Information request to Victoria University of Wellington
The request was refused by Victoria University of Wellington.
From: Lisa Dymond
Dear Victoria University of Wellington,
I request to know the following details surrounding the VUW faculty name changes that have been announced by VUW in 2019.
Specifically:
1. Which faculties or sub faculties are being targeted for change?
2. What research was performed to ascertain name change is necessary or viable?
3. Which faculties have either started, about to start or have completed the research? "At a faculty level we've determined from our research that having the phrase Victoria Business School means close to 60 per cent of people assume the school is either in Australia or Canada and the rest don't know, with only around 12 per cent thinking it's in Wellington," Guildford 31/7/19 NZ Herald
4. Who are the key stakeholders leading the changes, consider all parties at a University council, faculty or sub faculty and/or staff level?
5. How much has been budgeted for the changes both in time and financial cost, broken down per faculty and as a total?
6. What is the timeline for change roll-outs by each faculty?
7. Which internal and external parties have been engaged with or involved in the PR of the name changes - both proposed and actual?
8. How are the name changes decided and what is the process being followed?
9. How will the changes be advertised to affected/interested parties such as staff, students, Alumni members and the public?
10. Does the VUW Council need to approve the changes unanimously or by a voting process?
11. What research is being planned for following the name change to review the success or failure of the changes?
12. How much funding will be allocated to this review?
13. Who decides and on what basis which faculties require name changes?
Yours faithfully,
Lisa Dymond
