Timeliness of internal personnel investigations
Mark Montgomery made this Official Information request to Fire and Emergency New Zealand
The request was successful.
From: Mark Montgomery
Dear Fire and Emergency New Zealand,
As a New Zealand citizen and pursuant to the Section 12(3) (urgency provisions) I request the following information on or before 1 March 2020.
I am specifically seeking information on the timeliness of internal investigations into complaints / disputes currently underway, specifically:
1. How many interpersonal issues, for example bullying, harassment and privacy complaints, are currently being investigated?
2. How many of these investigations were commenced more than:
a) 2 years ago?
b) 18 months ago?
c) 1 year ago?
d) 9 months ago?
e) 6 months ago?
f) 3 months ago?
3. What barriers exist to early resolution of the longer standing investigations?
4. How many investigations relate to lack of clear policies?
5. How many investigations relate to relationship breakdowns?
6. How many investigations relate to bullying?
6. How many relate to minority issues, i.e., LGBTQ+, race, and / or gender?
7. How much has been paid out as compensation to complainants to date?
8. How much has been spent by FENZ on these investigations to date?
The reason for the request being made under urgency is so that I can provide advice to potentially affected people I am working with before 1 March 2020, as they have decisions to make around their involvement in events where they may represent Fire and Emergency NZ.
Yours faithfully,
Mark Montgomery
