I refer to your request dated 28 September 2020 to the Ministry of
Business, Innovation & Employment, requesting under the Official
Information Act 1982 ("the OIA") the following information:

o We are doing some research and is it possible to get a list of all
registered SPAs/Wellness centres/Massage Centre by region in New
Zealand & Foot fall over the last 1 year or more?

 

Your request has been sent to the Companies Office as it maintains the
companies register.  Some spa, wellness centres and massage centres will
be registered as a company on the register and we can provide a list of
companies that have selected a business industry classification code that
corresponds with the sectors you have identified.  However, it may be that
you are wanting a list of businesses that have been registered or licensed
to provide these services.  In order to respond to your request, could you
please clarify which information it is that you are actually requesting. 
 

 

In addition, you have asked for “foot fall”.  Could you please clarify
whether you mean foot traffic (i.e. numbers of customers)?

 

I would appreciate if you could respond to this email by 9 November 2020.

The Companies Office does not hold the information you have requested. 
Therefore, your request is refused under section 18(e) of the Official
Information Act 1982 (the OIA) as this information does not exist. You may
wish to consider contacting local Councils to see if they hold this
information as I am aware that some Councils licence businesses to provide
the services you have referred to. 

 

You have the right under section 28(3) of the OIA to make a complaint to
the Ombudsman about this response. Information about how to make a
