Dear OIA Requests,
Could you please provide an update with an ETA as to when the below information request will be available:
“What’s the Cycle Threshold (CT) value used to perform the PCR test for COVID19; what
changes by date have been made to the (Cycle Threshold (CT)) value per lab for this test
(COVID19 ) since the start of testing in New Zealand.”
Its been many weeks since the below request was submitted...
Sadly the Institute of Environmental Science and Research (ESR) has not responded and its the nebulous nature of "due course" that has me wondering when requested information will be ready.
Kind regards,
Andre

The Ct value here in new Zealand is 40 cycles - this has been confirmed in an earlier OIA request. According to sources like the CDC, the maximum number of cycles to achieve a reliable result is probably around 27. Anything over 30 is likely to produce a false positive.
Things to do with this request

The Ministry of Health has passed the request to the ESR to be answered, so in a few more weeks there should be an answer.
