Dear Mr Smith
I refer to your Official Information Act correspondence dated 15^th
February 2021
1. I can now confirm that I have not previously received this request via
the website FYI. I have been referred to it now and FYI have confirmed
there was an email address error in your initial request. That address
error has now been corrected and the FYI request updated accordingly.
It awaits your feedback.
2. Under the Act, to be eligible to request information under the OIA, a
requester must be:
o a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident;
o a person in New Zealand; or
o a corporate entity (that is, a company or an incorporated society)
which is either incorporated in New Zealand or has a place of business
here. Agencies are entitled to make reasonable enquiries to satisfy
themselves that a requester is eligible to make a request under the
OIA. With this in mind, could you please provide your postal address
and any other information that that may confirm your eligibility? I
am mindful of our obligation to provide reasonable assistance to
requesters and I note that time taken to confirm eligibility may mean
less time is available for processing any request that is subsequently
confirmed to be valid. With that in mind, I am trying to resolve any
doubts about a requester’s eligibility as soon as possible so your
request can be answered.
3. Having confirmed the above, can I please ask you to clarify your
request, in particular the timeframe of information you seek, as it is
ambiguous and could be interpreted as open ended.
Thank you.

J Smith,
Your OIA request was delivered on 12 December to the address we had at the time (nwatson). I understand this is the previous Chief Executive, although clearly their email address is still working. On 14 December we received a request from them to update the email address to be the current Chief Executive (ihadland), which we did.
We were not asked to re-send the OIA request, and it is unfortunate that they did not pass the request on to the current Chief Executive.
We ask everyone for their understanding that mistakes do occur from time to time.
