Kia ora Anthony

Thank you for your email of 10 March 2021 regarding our 10 March response
to your official information request regarding when providers were not
required to be in private practice (GOV-008999).
I can advise that we sought information from our team that deals with
provider contracts. The question was considered by two staff with
extensive knowledge of provider contracts, including one who has worked in
this area since 1998.
We have also, for completeness, searched the impairment assessment
contracts (as an example) dating back to 2005 (which is the earliest
version readily available to us). Those contracts contained no reference
to ‘private practice’.
Finally, as noted in our 10 March response we are aware that the term
‘private practice’, which you have used in a number of official
information requests over the years, was first used by Government Services
in 2010 in relation to an individual provider’s particular circumstances.
As we have advised you, this term was not used in reference to any
particular contractual requirement.
Noting the above, we are satisfied that we have properly considered your
official information request (GOV-008999), and have provided you an
appropriate and reasonable decision. I hope this clarifies our response.
