I have been advised that The Nuremberg Code set out to ensure no person had medical procedures performed without explicit consent. As the Nuremberg Code relates specifically to medical codes and ethics, the Ministry of Health would be best placed to respond to any further queries.

The Nuremberg Code (1949) was developed out of the trials of Nazi war criminals, including those involved in medical experiments. The Nuremberg Code was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly and is considered international “common law.” As NZ is a member of the UN I would suggest the MoJ is quite probably in error in their assertion of "no legal standing". Or has NZ ceased to be a member of the UN and it was not publicized?
