Dear Transpower New Zealand Limited,
I request all internal information of which includes communication eg verbal, emails, text etc. Including any documents and other relevant information for the incident of the power outage across the country on Monday 9th August 2021.
I also request information as to why the general public was not notified until after the power was cut off. And specifically why was there absolutely no prior communication or warning before the outage took place.
As you know electricity is a basic essential and some select people under certain specific circumstances can potentially die when absolutely no notice has been given.

Thanks for the response. I appreciate the time taken to obtain the information as I'm sure there is a high demand for it. I would prefer the digital transfer of information over the physical.
When it comes to the response of part b of my request, I'm not entirely sure how that answers my question on why there was no public communication prior to the power being shut down. Are you able to clarify that information for me?

Thanks for your prompt response. I will establish an electronic portal to enable you to access the materials we will disclose.
Please advise an email address to be used to access the portal. Transpower uses Microsoft SharePoint so you will need a Microsoft ID for that email address (if you do not have one, you will be prompted to create one).
I will be in touch with an invitation to and instructions for using the portal once it has been established. Subject to receipt of an email address, this is likely to be early next week.
For the information provided in response to part (b), the OIA only applies to information that is already held by an agency and there is no obligation to create information to respond to a request. We provided the information already held by us in response to your question about public communication. Transpower did post information about the outages on our Facebook page at 8.56pm on the night of the event.
