Passport Policy (redirect from DIA)

John Burns-Smith made this Official Information request to Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade

The request was successful.

From: John Burns-Smith

Dear Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade,

I would also like to make an Official Information Act request for policy documents, guidance notes that outline what categories of person are entitled to be issued diplomatic passports and under what circumstances (for example, current and former prime ministers / Department CEOs) and any policies that govern the use of these travel documents.

This request follows an OIA request to the Dept of Internal Affairs (OIA request 21/22 0113) in which the department states:

"Please find attached the policies relating to Official and Diplomatic passports, extracted from the Department’s policy resource Tuwhiria te Tikanga. I note that it is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) who direct the Department on whether to issue a Diplomatic passport. You may therefore wish to contact them in order to seek out any policy documentation they hold regarding this...". The full response is available at https://fyi.org.nz/request/16317-passpor... .

Yours faithfully,

John Burns-Smith
