Caveats to data
- The month received has been taken by when the paper application was entered into
the citizenship system. Please do note, however, that there is often a delay of days to
weeks between a paper application arriving in an office and it being entered into the
system.
- The office has been determined by the location of the citizenship trained Life and
Identity Services Officer (LISO) who is currently assigned to, or had last modified, an
application. This is usually the office that an application was submitted to, however,
in some instances paper applications are transferred between offices due to varying
workloads.
- The month an application was processed refers to when the processing of an
application was completed, and sent to the Minister for decision. Please note that
applications are not necessarily allocated to a LISO for processing the same month
their processing is completed.
- The Manukau citizenship office closed on 18 June 2021, so any applications sitting
with Manukau LISOs were transferred to the Auckland office.
- September had a very low number of applications sent for decision due to Covid-19
lockdowns.

- For the staff currently working on paper applications in Wellington, two are LISOs
and the remaining 15 are temporary staff. I note that one of the LISOs is mainly
providing support to the temporary staff.
- Pre-lockdown there were four LISOs in Auckland working fulltime on paper
applications. However, with lockdown restrictions, currently only one of these LISOs
is coming into the office to process these applications.
