RE Official Information Act request CDHB 10727 & WCDHB 9612
We are writing to acknowledge your email dated 19 September 2021 to the Ministry of Health which they
subsequently transferred to us on 30 September 2021 requesting the fol owing information under the Official
Information Act from Canterbury DHB and West Coast DHB. Specifical y:
1. What is the Covid-19 treatment protocol for hospitalised cases?
2. Are some DHB's fol owing different treatment protocols from others?
3. Are DHB's free to make decisions about treatments for individuals with Covid-19?
4. To what extent are patients able to participate in decision-making about their treatment programmes?
5. If a patient requests a blood test for Vitamin D and/or the administration of high dosage Vitamin C, are hospital
staff able to provide these?
6. Do hospital staff have the right to refuse a patient's request and, if so, is there a process for a patient to appeal
the decision?
We wil consider your request against the provisions of the Official Information Act (see below) and advise you
of our decision regarding the release of information within 20 working days (being the statutory timeframe
provided within the Act.) Accordingly, we wil notify you no later than 29 October 2021 of our decision.

r section 12 of the Local Government Official
Information and Meetings Act 1987 shal , as soon as reasonably practicable, and in any case not later than 20 working days
after the day on which the request is received by that department or Minister of the Crown or organisation,—
(1)(a) decide whether the request is to be granted and, if it is to be granted, in what manner and for what charge (if any);
and
(1)(b) give or post to the person who made the request notice of the decision on the request
