Thank you for your Official Information Act request, received yesterday today.

We are working on a response for you, which will be sent as soon as practical and within the 20 working day timeframe as per the Ombudsman's Guidance, by 1 November 2021. We will contact you if we have any queries with the request or need to extend the timeframe for your response. In those cases, we will advise why the extension is necessary, and indicate when the response will be ready.

Please note that, like all DHBs across New Zealand, Counties Manukau DHB has begun a process of proactive disclosure, which means OIA responses will be publicly available via our website around 10 days after they have been released. Our response will advise if we intend to publish the response, (with personal information removed) and related documents on the CMDHB website. If you advise us of special reasons why proactive disclosure should not apply to your response, we will consider this.

I refer to your official information act request below.

The OIA requires that we advise you of our decision on your request no later than 20 working days after the day we received your request. It will not be possible to meet that time limit and we are therefore writing to notify you of an extension of the time to make our decision, to 15th November 2021.

This extension is necessary because your request is for detailed information and further consultation is necessary that as such, a proper response cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit. In addition to this, while we are endeavouring to get this OIA response to you within a reasonable timeframe, our clinicians, executives, managers and other staff are concentrating their efforts on measures to manage the current COVID-19 Delta variant outbreak. It is therefore necessary to extend the time required to provide a response to your request for information in accordance with section 15A of the Official Information Act.

You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision. Information about this is available at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.
