Temporary medical exemption statistics
B. White made this Official Information request to Ministry of Health
The request was partially successful.
From: B. White
Dear Ministry of Health,
Can you please provide data in relation to the numbers of temporary medical exemptions that have been applied for, and the numbbers subsaquently granted under the process oulined in the link on your website listed below.
Please provide the data in a informative way similar to the data that the Ministry supplies in relation to COVID-19 vaccination. It would be useful to see the data split by the following:
- DHB
- Time series (by day, or by week)
- Ethnicity
- Age
- Criteria for Temporary COVID-19 Vaccine Medical Exemption (as outlined in the Clinical Guidance)
Although this request is only for data up to present, I expect there will be public interest in this topic, and if the Ministry intends to publish this data on an ongoing basis I would suggest that renewals of temporary exemptions are also reported on in a seperate but similar manner when they start being recieved.

Thank you for your Official Information Act request. This is
an automatic reply to let you know we received it.
In accordance with the Act, we'll let you know our decision within no more
than 20 working days. If you'd like to calculate the timeframe, you can
use the Ombudsman's online calculator
here: [1]http://www.ombudsman.parliament.nz/
Due to the COVID-19 global pandemic response, the Ministry is experiencing
significantly higher volumes of queries and requests for information. This
means we may take some time in responding to your request. The Ministry
regularly updates information about the COVID-19 situation and publishes
OIA responses considered to be of public interest:

Please also refer to the Unite Against Covid-19 website for copies of
papers, minutes, and key advice for the decisions the Government has made
relating to COVID-19.
Sometimes we may need to clarify aspects of a request. You can expect to
hear from us soon if that is the case here.

Hi all,
I have used a PDF to Excel converter to get the data in an accessable format.
I have run some basic add accross and add down checks and corrected a couple of errors introduced by the software - but I would reccomend checking against the PDF if anything looks out.
