Estimated timeline and details on public availability of Novavax
Mr Massey made this Official Information request to Ministry of Health
The request was successful.
From: Mr Massey
Dear Ministry of Health,
I'd like to inquire as to the current status of Novavax (Nuvaxoid) in regards to it's availability for actual use as a primary vaccination against Covid-19.
In addition, I'd also like information on the current status of it's delivery to New Zealand. According to Reuters (https://www.reuters.com/business/healthc...) New Zealand apparently received a shipment on Monday, 7th of February
Yours faithfully, Mr Massey

Kia ora Mr Massey,
Thank you for your email. You asked:
The current status of Novavax (Nuvaxoid) in regards to it's availability
for actual use as a primary vaccination against Covid-19.
In addition, I'd also like information on the current status of it's
delivery to New Zealand. According to Reuters. New Zealand apparently
received a shipment on Monday, 7th of February
On the 4th of February 2022, New Zealand medicines regulator Medsafe has
granted provisional approval of the Novavax COVID-19 vaccine for adults 18
years and over.
Medsafe’s provisional approval is only one step of the process. Ministers
will have to consider advice from the Ministry of Health and the COVID-19
Vaccine Technical Advisory Group (CV-TAG) about whether to use the Novavax
vaccine in New Zealand. Following CV-TAG advice and pending Cabinet’s
decision to use, officials are working with Novavax to establish delivery
options as early as Q1 2022
At this time, we are unable to provide you with an expected timeframe for
the use of the Novavax vaccine in New Zealand.
Under section 28(3) of the Act you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to
review any decisions made under this request. The Ombudsman may be
contacted by email at: [1][email address] or by calling 0800
802 602.

Dear OIA Requests,
You do not appear to have even attempted to answer my question, and have instead responded with a boiler plate response that is already present on the MoH site. To clarify, I have the following requests;
- The advice that the Ministry of Health and the CVTAG has provided as to the use of Novavax
- Information as to the supposed delivery of Nuvaxoid on Monday, 7th of February.
If the MoH is not the relevant ministry for this request, please inform me as to where I should direct my inquiry.
Yours sincerely,
Mr Massey

Extremely disappointing non-answers from a fractured government that are unwilling to move as fast as they did to approve the Pfizer mRNA therapeutic vaccine.
