Official Information request 
We refer to the transfer of official information request from the Ministry of Education on the 11 April 
2022.  The  University  of  Waikato  (University)  has  given  due  consideration  to  your  request  and 
provides the following response. 
 
1.  “How many FTE disabilities support staff are at each university institution and if relevant why 
there are discrepancies in these numbers.” 
The University has 2.85 FTE disability support staff. With respect to your second point regarding 
whether  there  are  discrepancies  in  these  numbers,  the  University  refuses  your  request  under 
section 18(g) of the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) as the information is not held.  
2.  “What is the allocation for these staff at each institution, how many minimum are required.” 
The University is not aware of any minimum requirement in terms of FTE staff working to support 
students with disabilities in Universities.  
You  have  the  right  to  seek  an  investigation  and  review  by  the  Ombudsman  of  this  decision.
