Local government commission

john luke made this Official Information request to Department of Internal Affairs

The request was successful.

From: john luke

Dear Department of Internal Affairs,

May I kindly request the full meeting minutes from 1st January 2020 to now. I can’t find it online and to ensure transparency, I would encourage the commissioners to consider publish their meeting minutes online like other govt board does.

I noted on your website it said, “Commissioners are expected to attend monthly meetings and ad hoc meetings as required.”

Yours faithfully,

john luke

Dear John Luke

I refer to your official information request dated 25 April 2022,
transferred to the Local Government Commission by the Department of
Internal Affairs on 29 April 2022, for meeting minutes of the Local
Government Commission from 1 January 2020 to now.

The information you have requested is enclosed, along with a list of
minutes, subject to the following:

o In the minutes of the meeting held on 20 August 2020 the names of
Department of Internal Affairs staff below the position of manager
have bee redacted to protect the privacy of natural persons (section
9(2)(a), OIA)

In relation to these minutes I notice that the names of two persons with
positions above that of manager have been mistakenly been redacted. Rather
than delay the release of the information requested I have left these
names redacted but advise that the name redacted from item 6 is Anita
Balakrishnan and the name redacted from item 9 is Michael Lovett. We are
happy to provide a corrected version of that set of minutes next week.

o Minutes of the meetings held on 22 November 2021 and 4, 6 and 8 April
2022 have not yet been confirmed by the Commission and therefore do
not exist as minutes and the draft minutes have not been released
(section 18(e), OIA). We will release these to you when they have been
confirmed.

You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of
this decision. Information about how to make a complaint is available at
[1]www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.

Yours sincerely
