Matua Whangai
Faith Stol made this Official Information request to Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children
Response to this request is long overdue. By law Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.
From: Faith Stol
Dear Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children,
Kia Ora,
Is there a legal agreement with Oranga Tamariki and Inland Revenue around the voluntary, tax-free arrangements for MATUA WHAANGAI.
I would be very surprised to find if there isn't.
We know this model can be successful for some, however, OT and other care service providers can easily take advantage of caregivers paying them under this model under the guise of having "zero taxes paid" but there are further implications around this. How is this lawful?
Yours faithfully,
Faith Stol.
