Re: Official Information Act request – Outsourced Elective Surgery Data - (Ref:
20220615-1243)
I refer to your Official Information Act (OIA) request of 15 June 2022 requesting the
following information:
I would like to request the following information for each of the DHBs in New
Zealand, split by DHB.
1. The total number of procedures outsourced by year (including the year to
date) for the past five years.
2. For each year, provide a breakdown of the type of procedure.
3. For each year, provide the total spend on outsourced elective surgeries.
4. For each year, provide the amount that these surgeries would have cost the
DHBs if they had not been outsourced.
Response
The Official Information Act requires that we advise you of our decision on your request no
later than 13 July, 20 working days after the day we received your request, or after
clarification is agreed.
We are writing to notify you that we will be extending the deadline for our reply to
17 August 2022 for consultations necessary to make a decision on the request.
These are such that a proper response to the request cannot reasonably be made within
the time limit.
If you are not happy with this response, you have the right to make a complaint to the
Ombudsman. Information about how to do this is available at
www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or by phoning 0800 802 602.
