We acknowledge receipt of your Official Information Act request.

Would it be possible to please clarify the information you are after?

1. For your first two questions (total number of applicants and total number of enrolled students to the programmes specified), are you interested in receiving the information for the Health Sciences First Year category (i.e. HSFY Māori equity group, HSFY Indigenous Pacific equity group, HSFY Refugee equity group, and so on). Alternatively, are you interested in the Graduate category or Alternative category?

2. In your second question, you refer to "total number of enrolled students" - could you please confirm whether you are interested in knowing the total number of applicants to receive an offer to the programme, or the total number of applicants to enter the programme (i.e. accept their offer)?

3. In your third question, we note that average academic scores are used for HSFY, rather than GPA scores. Could I please confirm again whether you are interested in knowing the minimum and highest average academic scores for applicants who received offers to enter the programme, or the minimum and highest average academic scores to enter the programme (i.e. accept their offer)?

4. In all of your questions, you are requesting the information for 2018 - 2021. Do you mean entering the MB ChB programme in 2018 - 2021, or applying in 2018 - 2021 for 2019 - 2022 entry to the MB ChB programme?

We will wait to hear back from your before we continue to process your request.

I refer to your Official Information Act request dated 5 July and clarified 14 July 2022. You have requested information in relation to entry to various Health Sciences Professional Programmes at the University of Otago.

The Act requires that we advise you of our decision on your request no later than 20 working days after the date your request was clarified. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to meet that time limit. We are therefore writing to notify you, pursuant to section 15A of the Act, of an extension of the time to make our decision in respect of your request, by a further 5 working days - to Thursday 18 August 2022.

This extension is necessary because your request necessitates a search through a large quantity of information and meeting the original time limit would unreasonably interfere with our operations. While your email dated 14 clarified the scope of your request, it has still required our analysts to research and collate a large amount of information for the different programmes. We have been processing your request, but unfortunately due to staff illness and absences in the relevant areas, processing has been delayed as a result. We apologise for the delay and thank you for your patience. We will endeavour to provide the information sooner if possible.

If you are not satisfied with our extension of time, you have the right to make a complaint to the Ombudsman under section 28(3) of the Act. However, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss any concerns with you first.

Ngâ mihi
Kelsey
