I refer to your email dated 12 December 2022, requesting the following under the Of icial
Information Act 1982 (the Act), relating to our advertisement seeking members for the Speed
Management Committee:
“I noted, Seeking Members for the Speed Management Committee
…. May I ask how did you call for public nomination and on what platform you have
call for public nominations, e.g. govt.jobs website. Also, how many applications you
have received from the public and how many you have received from other
nominating agencies such as TPK or ministry of women. How many you have
shortlisted and how many positions you are intend to appoint.”
For all new transport Board appointments, Te Manatū Waka undertakes the same process.
We upload an advertisement for the position to the Treasury’s board appointments website,
seek nominations (via email) from nominating agencies and advertise the position on the
LinkedIn profile and website for Te Manatū Waka.
I can advise that Te Manatū Waka received a total of 21 applications for the Speed
Management Committee, which were all self-nominated. No nominations were received from
nominating agencies. Eight candidates have been interviewed. The Committee’s Terms of
Reference state up to nine members can be appointed and the Minister is currently
considering the number of appointments to be made.
This response completes your request for information. You have the right to seek an
investigation and review of this response by the Ombudsman, in accordance with section
28(3) of the Act. The relevant details can be found on the Ombudsman’s website
www.ombudsman.parliament.nz.
