I refer to your information request dated 21 December 2022 and made under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act). You have requested grade and mark distributions for 77 different papers offered by the University of Otago from 2017 - 2022.
Your request in its current form is very large and complex and therefore we are likely to need to propose a charge or decline part of the request pursuant to section 18(f) of the Act as it will require substantial research and collation. Given that your request is for a large amount of papers from several different subject areas, and is for a large time period, our staff would need to dedicate a large amount of time to respond to your request, which would unreasonably interfere with our operations.
We would be grateful if your overall request scope could be amended and/or limited so as to make the request practically manageable, such as reducing the number of papers and/or reducing the time period. As examples, our analysts have advised that if you halved the number of papers for the five-year period, this would be practically manageable. Alternatively, if you were interested in all 77 papers, reducing the time period to a two-year period would be practically manageable.
We will wait to hear back from you before we continue to process your request.
Ngā mihi

Dear UoO - Official Information Act,
Thank you for your reply, could I please reduce the time period to two years then for all 77 papers?
Yours sincerely,
Alex
