Dear Manager, Information Requests,
I note your advice that this report is, at this time, not completed and that my request is declined.
This advice appears contradictory to the information FENZ provided to the G&A Select Committee. I refer to Question 150 on the supplementary information. In response to the Committee's question as to the number of Operational Reports completed in the 2020/21 year for vegetation fires FENZ advised that there were two and listed the Waiharara and Evergreen fires. I note that the FENZ misunderstood the second part of the question re the costs of these particular fires and responded instead that the "FENZ did not cost individual reviews".
You will appreciate then that I am a bit confused with your advice that the review is "on-going" given that you advised the Select Committee that it was completed.
Can you confirm for me whether the advice you have given me that the report is not completed is correct,
Thank you.

Kia ora Alan
We are advised that the it is correct that an operational review was undertaken into the Evergreen Crescent incident as per the response to the Select Committee. It is also correct that the final report of the review is not yet complete.
We hope this clarifies the situation.

Dear Official Information Requests,
Thank you for your advice. It may be useful for you to clarify for the Select Committee that only one rural fire Operational Review was completed in that reporting year but that a second one was under action.
Without this clarification I am sure that they might have made the same assumption that I did. The question clearly implied completed reviews in that period. Particularly as we are now some 18 months on from that incident, the report is not yet complete and the lessons learnt not identified and implemented.
Yours sincerely,
Alan Thompson
