Clarification
James made this Official Information request to Tertiary Education Commission
This request has been withdrawn by the person who made it. There may be an explanation in the correspondence below.
From: James
Dear Tertiary Education Commission,
Under the OIA I am seeking the following;
As per your own webpage below,
https://www.tec.govt.nz/vocational-educa...
The Tertiary Education Commission announced new Workforce Development Council appointments which included the appointment of Mr Tukaki. His bio on your webpage states he was the CEO of Drake International, which is in direct conflict to his Workforce Development Council bio stating he was only a General Manager.
Under the OIA can you please clarify that Mr Tukaki did indeed hold the role of CEO Drake International and his bio as per your published announcement is accurate and correct.
Please provide Mr Tukaki’s CV , and any covering letter detailing his experience and tertiary qualifications as per his application for a position on the Workforce Development Council. Please note the release of Mr Tukaki’s CV has already been granted by the Ombudsman in a previous application. Furthermore, a detailed synopsis of Mr Tukaki’s work history is publicly available via his LinkedIn page.
Mr Tukaki has given numerous media interviews stating he has no formal Tertiary Qualifications as in this interview on 27/06/2022 with John Cowan - Real life on ZB stating “I left school at 16 don’t have any qualifications, don’t even have school C English”
https://www.newstalkzb.co.nz/on-air/real...
This is in direct contrast to his bio in the Suicide Prevention Australia, Annual Financial Report 30/06/2020 (a legal document) of which he held the position of Chairman, in which he states the following qualifications:
Post Graduate Diploma in Diplomacy and Negotiations (VU), Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS,WU), NZ Certificate in Business (BoP/MT), International Government Certificate in Knowledge Management (IGKM).
https://www.suicidepreventionaust.org/wp...
As such, given Mr Tukaki’s involvement in the Tertiary and Education sector, namely being Co Chair of Toitū te Waiora (Community, Health, Education, and Social Services) Workforce Development Council, under the OIA please provide the date Mr Tukaki’s qualifications were checked and verified as part of the recruitment process.
Or, if this hasn’t occurred for some reason, confirm all of Mr Tukaki’s qualifications have now been verified and are correct. Please provide the dates of the recent verification of all the relevant Tertiary Institutions Mr Tukaki obtained a qualification from.
Mr Tukaki’s CV and credentials have been of high public interest, resulting in leading the 6pm News on TVNZ. As such, confirming the qualifications of a Workforce Development Council member working in the Health and education sectors is vital to maintaining the transparency and integrity that is required in this sector.
Yours faithfully,
James

Dear Ministerial Requests,
Hi Anna,
Please take this message as a withdrawal of my submitted OIA as a new request will be filed shortly with additional questions and the required documentation to satisfy the TEC concerns that this request is not made by someone overseas or a non NZ citizen.
