Tçnâ koe Aulia

Thank you for your email of 9 June 2023 to the Ministry of Business,
Innovation and Employment (MBIE) requesting the following:

“1. How many 2021 One-Off Resident Applications have been processed and
finalized as of the present date?

2. Considering the remaining applications, what is the estimated timeframe
for their completion?

3. What are the challenges or factors affecting the processing speed of
the remaining 2021 One-Off Resident Applications? Please provide details
on any obstacles or issues contributing to the processing delays.

4. In the case where individuals have missed out on the benefits of being
New Zealand residents due to their applications not being processed, what
compensation or remedial measures are being offered to address this
situation?”

Please note that the questions you have asked in the above do not meet the
criteria as a request for official information. We are therefore
responding to your request as a general correspondence.

Response to Question 1:

This information is publicly available on the Immigration New Zealand
(INZ) website:

[1]https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-zeal...

Response to Question 2:

INZ is forecasting that 95 per cent of 2021 Resident Visa applications
will be completed no later than the end of July 2023. There will always be
a small number of cases that take longer to be completed than the
majority.

Response to Question 3:

INZ needs to balance resourcing priorities across many visa products.
Other factors which contribute to processing timeframes also include the
dependence on the ability of any partner agencies undertaking their
requirements within a reasonable period of time, or clients being able to
secure any required evidence quickly and easily.

Response to Question 4:

While INZ endeavours to indicate timeframes for the processing of cohorts
of applications to allow applicants to plan their futures, for the reasons
provided in the above response, these timeframes will be subject to
change. INZ is committed to completing 95 per cent of 2021 Resident Visa
applications by the end of July 2023 and is currently ahead of forecast.

I hope this has addressed your questions.

Ngâ mihi,

Lino
