Thank you for your email of 17 July 2023 requesting information relating to climate initiatives 
for agriculture and forestry included in the Climate Emergency Response Fund (CERF). Your 
request has been considered under the Of icial Information Act 1982 (OIA). 
 
You requested the following:  
  (1) Please advise total funding allocated for (a) agriculture and (b) forestry out of the total 
CERF by year. 
 
With reference to section 18(d) of the OIA, information relating to the CERF bids for 
Agriculture and Forestry at the time of announcement are publicly available on page 157 – 
163 of the following link: https:/ www.treasury.govt.nz/sites/default/files/2022-05/b22-
wellbeing-budget.pdf.  
  (2) Please provide information relating to all budgeted Government allocation to CERF 
climate initiatives for agriculture and forestry. 
 
This request encompasses information relating to: 
(a) Al ocated budget by project, year and relevant institution/s for each project. 
(b) Brief summary and timeline of each project and the projects intended outcome. 
(b) Terms of reference/funding scopes developed to date, for organisations who apply 
for funding under these schemes. 
 
Please find attached as Appendix One a complete breakdown of each of the following 
climate change initiatives for agriculture and forestry: 
 
Agriculture 
•  Agricultural emissions reduction – developing the Agricultural Emissions Pricing 
System. 
•  Agriculture: Accelerating development of greenhouse gas mitigations. 
•  Agriculture: Supporting producers and Māori entities to transition to a low emissions 
future. 
 
Forestry 
•  Forestry: Increasing woody biomass supply to replace coal and other carbon 
intensive fuels and materials. 
•  Forestry: Maximising carbon storage, increasing natural sequestration to achieve 
New Zealand's future carbon goals. 
•  Forestry: Establishing native forests at scale to develop long-term carbon sinks and 
improve biodiversity.
