On behalf of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment I
acknowledge your email of 5 July 2023 requesting under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following:

 

‘The below (linked) Treasury document summarises current and future budget
allocations for the Climate Emergency Response Fund (CERF), on page 6
shows intended Agriculture Emissions Reduction current and projected
budgets.

$495 million appears to have been set aside for Agriculture Emissions
Reduction research over a four year period.

 

2022/2023 baseline $38.4 million

2023/2024 forecast $75.09 million

2024/2025 forecast $134.23 million

2025/2026 forecast $247.73 million

The total comes to some $495 million.

The Government Economic Plan also states that ‘We are investing $2.9
billion from the Climate Emergency Response Fund (CERF) to achieve our
Emissions Reduction Plan. This includes a $600 million increase to the
Government Investment in Decarbonising Industry (GIDI) Fund, and close to
$400 million to accelerate development and uptake of agricultural
emissions reduction technology.’

(1) Please advise total funding allocated for (a) agriculture and (b)
forestry out of the total CERF by year.

 

(2) Please provide information relating to all budgeted Government
allocation to CERF climate initiatives for agriculture and forestry.

 

This request encompasses information relating to:

(a) Allocated budget by project, year and relevant institution/s for each
project.

(b) Brief summary and timeline of each project and the projects intended
outcome.

(b) Terms of reference/funding scopes developed to date, for organisations
who apply for funding under these schemes.”
