Thank you for your request for official information received on 14
August 2023 requesting:  

 

“Please provide any advice you were given from Whaikaha Ministry of
Disabled People, Te Aka Whai Ora the Mâori Health Authority, or e Pou
Hauora Tûmatanui the Public Health agency, or any other agencies
regarding the removal of mask mandates from medical and disability care
settings and, and removing the isolation period for COVID-19.”  

 

The Ministry of Health has decided to extend the
period of time available to respond to your request under section
15A of the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) as the
consultations necessary to make a decision on the request are such that a
proper response to the request cannot reasonably be made within the
original time limit. 

 

You can now expect a response to your request on, or before, 24 October
2023.  

 

You have the right, under section 28 of the Act, to ask the Ombudsman to
review my decision to extend the time available to respond to your
request.

Thank you for your email and we apologise for the delay in response. A
decision has been made on your request; however more time is required to
administratively process the information for release. Manatū Hauora
accepts there has been a failure to meet the timeliness requirements
imposed by the Act on this occasion. We apologise for the inconvenience
and any frustration caused to you as a result and we are endeavouring to
provide this to you as soon as practicable, with some information being
withheld under the following sections of the Act:

o section 9(2)(a) to protect the privacy of natural persons

o section 9(2)(h) to maintain legal professional privilege

o section 9(2)(g)(i) to maintain the effective conduct of public affairs
through the free and frank expression of opinions by or between or to
Ministers and officers and employees of any public service agency

o section 18(d) as information requested will soon be publicly available
