Quantity of aluminium contained in vaccines on the NZ immunisation schedule

Athina Andonatou made this Official Information request to Ministry of Health

Ministry of Health did not have the information requested.

From: Athina Andonatou

Dear Ministry of Health,
As a New Zealand citizen I request the following information:

1) The quantity and type of aluminium contained in all the vaccines included in the NZ Immunisation schedule?

2) Please provide me all the scientific studies, evidence or other documents which support the statement made by the Immunisation Advisory Centre where they "did not find any evidence that aluminium salts in vaccines cause serious or long-term health problems".

3) What studies have the Ministry of Health or other NZ organisations carried out to determine the safety and efficacy of vaccines that hasn't come from an organisation external to New Zealand?

4) Have any true placebo tests or studies been carried out either here or globally, where the control groups placebo contains no aluminium vs most available studies where the control group received low doses of aluminium? If so, please provide the documentation and studies.

I look forward to your response

Yours faithfully,
Athina

Tēnā koe Athina,

Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the
Act) to Manatū Hauora (the Ministry of Health) on 23 October 2023 for
information regarding the safety and efficacy of vaccines in New Zealand.
Please find a response to each part of your request below:

The quantity and type of aluminium contained in all the vaccines included
in the NZ Immunisation schedule?

The ingredients of medicines are specified in the data sheets which are
available on Medsafe’s website:
[1]www.medsafe.govt.nz/Medicines/infoSearch.asp Alternatively, you can use
the product application search at:
[2]www.medsafe.govt.nz/regulatory/dbsearch.asp.

Please provide me all the scientific studies, evidence or other documents
which support the statement made by the Immunisation Advisory Centre where
they "did not find any evidence that aluminium salts in vaccines cause
serious or long-term health problems".

Please note Manatū Hauora is not responsible for the statements of other
organisations and does not conduct scientific research or studies.
However, you may wish to contact Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand at:
[3][email address] or Auckland UniServies Limited at:
[4][email address] for information relating to this part of
your request.

What studies have the Ministry of Health or other NZ organisations carried
out to determine the safety and efficacy of vaccines that hasn't come from
an organisation external to New Zealand?

Have any true placebo tests or studies been carried out either here or
globally, where the control groups placebo contains no aluminium vs most
available studies where the control group received low doses of aluminium?
If so, please provide the documentation and studies.

On 3 November 2023, you were contacted by the Ministry in order to clarify
these parts of your request. Specifically, which vaccines you were seeking
information about and further details regarding your request
for information about placebo.

On 14 November 2023, the Ministry followed up with you again on
our initial clarification email request. In response, you replied that you
wish to withdraw your request for information pertaining to these parts of
your request.

From: Athina Andonatou

Dear Ministry of Health,
I have looked at both the sites as you suggested and although I can determine what vaccines do contain aluminium as an excipient, it does not state the dose of aluminium it contains. Again I ask that you please provide the dose of aluminium contained in the following vaccines, which has it included as an excipient.

This is still the original question as asked initially, it is now just more specific to the vaccines contained in the New Zealand vaccine schedule that do have aluminium in them as an excipients
1) Infanrix Hexa (Diphtheria vaccine + Haemophilus influenzae type b vaccine + Hepatitis B vaccine + Pertussis vaccine + Poliomyelitis vaccine + Tetanus vaccine)
2) Adacel Polio (Diphtheria vaccine + Pertussis vaccine + Poliomyelitis vaccine + Tetanus vaccine)
3) Avaxim (Hepatitis A vaccine)
4) Bexero (Meningococcal vaccine)
5) Panvax (Influenza vaccine monovalent)
6) ADT Booster (Diphtheria vaccine + Tetanus vaccine)
7) ADT Vaccine (Diphtheria vaccine + Tetanus vaccine)
8) Boostrix (Diphtheria vaccine + Pertussis vaccine + Tetanus vaccine)
9) Engerix-B vaccine (Hepatitis B vaccine)
10) H5N1 Influenza Vaccine (Influenza vaccine monovalent)
11) Havrix 1440 vaccine (Hepatitis A vaccine)
12) Havrix Junior (Hepatitis A vaccine)
13) Hexaxim (Diphtheria vaccine + Haemophilus influenzae type b vaccine + Hepatitis B vaccine + Pertussis vaccine + Poliomyelitis vaccine + Tetanus vaccine)
14) Infanrix-IPV (Diphtheria vaccine + Pertussis vaccine + Poliomyelitis vaccine + Tetanus vaccine)
15) NeisVac-C (Meningococcal vaccine)
16) Prevenar 13 (Pneumococcal vaccine)
17) TdaP-Booster (Diphtheria vaccine + Pertussis vaccine + Tetanus vaccine)
18) Trumenba (Meningococcal vaccine)
19) Twinrix (Hepatitis A vaccine + Hepatitis B vaccine)
20) Twinrix Junior (Hepatitis A vaccine + Hepatitis B vaccine)
21) Vivaxim (Hepatitis A vaccine + Typhoid vaccine)

Yours faithfully,

Translation of the OIA response: Medsafe knows exactly how much Aluminum is in each of these injections, but they are not going to tell you to protect the commercial interests of the manufacturers. They will also omit to mention that 84% of their funding from the same people that they are protecting. Massive conflict of interest, see https://nzdsos.com/2023/11/24/is-medsafe...

M Bell, that was exactly my thoughts on their response. Ingredients have to be on food labels, but we're not able to know the amount and type of aluminium in each of the shots I asked about. Says it all.

Well constructed series of questions Athina Andonatou and typical answer by the so-called regulator MedSafe.

I know it is a long process, but you might consider seeking that the Ombudsman look at the refusal (withheld information) and whether the public interest in knowing the content of what is injected is stronger than the interest of the various vaccine manufacturers or sponsors of the products.

Generally the Ombudsman's office moves at the pace of geological processes so it will be at least a year before the complaint is allocated to an investigator, nevertheless, I suggest it is a worthwhile pursuit to see if the Parliamentary Ombudsman might crack the window open given it is their job to uphold the Official Information Act, and given the nature of and requirement for informed consent to medical procedures, which includes vaccines which are a prophylactically given to oitherwise healthy individuals.
