On behalf of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment I
acknowledge your email of 28 October 2023 requesting under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following:

 

‘According to the data provided on the Immigration New Zealand webpage
(accessed on October 28, 2023), it is evident that 96.4% of the visa
applications for the 2021 Resident visa have been processed. However,
since July, the number of processed visas has dramatically decreased to
approximately 100-200 per month. As there are still around 3,500 visas
awaiting processing, at this current rate, it would take another two years
to complete the process. I would like to know if this projected processing
time aligns with your estimations, or if you anticipate different
processing times. Could you please provide an approximate timeline within
which you expect all the visas to be processed?’

 

We will endeavour to respond to your request as soon as possible, and no
later than 24 November 2023, being 20 working days after the day your
request was received. If we are unable to respond to your request by then,
