Tangoio Fire Operational REview
Alan Thompson made this Official Information request to Fire and Emergency New Zealand
The request was successful.
From: Alan Thompson
Dear Fire and Emergency New Zealand,
On the 6th January 2020 a significant fire ignited in the Tangoio Forest, off Tangoio Settlement Road, Tangoio. The fire burnt approximately 400 hectares of land across two forestry blocks including mature trees, recent plantings, forestry slash, scrub and boundary fences. Total costs to fight this fire exceeded $1.6million.
FENZ undertakes a formal review of all major fires including vegetation fires. In response to a written question, FENZ reported to the G&A Select Committee that in the FY2019/20 year there were four such reviews undertaken. The list of Operational Reviews provided to the Select Committee included the 6th Jan 2020 Tangoio fire.
Under the provisions of the Official Information Act, I request a copy of any reports or other written advice that resulted from the Operational Review for the Jan 6th 2020 Tangoio fire as advised to the Select Committee.
Yours faithfully,
Alan Thompson
