Tēnā koe Stephen
Thank you for your request to the Department of Conservation, received on 16 January
2024, in which you asked for:
‘information from 1 May 2023 by the Regulatory services unit covering the advice
provided to Penny Nelson or DOC SLT, the Minister, or MBIE regarding the issuing of
concessions to PTL /WHL for Turoa and Whakapapa ski fields.’
On 24 January we sought clarification of your request which was then refined to:
1. ‘Formal advice to the Minister of Conservation primarily related to the concession
process for Mt Ruapehu, since 1 May 2023.
2. Formal advice to the Director-General of Conservation primarily related to the
concession process for Mt Ruapehu, since 1 May 2023.’
This letter is to advise you that we are extending the 20 working day period to respond to
your request, as allowed under section 15A(1) of the Official Information Act 1982. We
require an additional 25
days to respond to your request. We wil send you a response no
later than 5 April 2024, earlier if possible.
The extension of time is necessary as your request necessitates us searching through a
large quantity of information and meeting the original time limit would unreasonably interfere
with the operations of the Department. Additional time is also required due to consultations
necessary to make a decision on the request.
You have the right, under section 28(3) of the Of icial Information Act to make a complaint to
an Ombudsman about the extension. If you wish to discuss this response to your request,
please contact
[email address].
