Tēnā koe Sarah Brodrick,
Official Information Act request
Thank you for your email of 23 January 2024, requesting the policy for Ministry
of Social Development (the Ministry) clients on the Supported Living Benefit and
international travel guidelines.
I have considered your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act).
Please find my decision set out below.
I would like a copy of the policy for MSD Clients on the Supported Living
Benefit and international travel guidelines. I am requesting for the
policy, relevant legislation and information, for the years 2022, 2023
and any changes made in 2024.
I refer you to the following link to the Ministry website providing information on
an absence from New Zealand, for clients receiving a Supported Living Payment:
•
www.workandincome.govt.nz/map/income-support/main-
benefits/supported-living-payment/changes-and-reviews-supported-living-
payment/absence-from-new-zealand-01.html
This link provides the Ministry policy, useful information, and links to relevant
legislation. Please note there has been no work done on the international travel
guidance for Supported Living Payment across Income Support Policy and
Operational Policy over 2022, 2023, and 2024.
I will be publishing this decision letter, with your personal details deleted, on the
Ministry’s website in due course.
If you wish to discuss this response with us, please feel free to contact
[MSD request email]. If you are not satisfied with my decision on your request, you have the right to
seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman. Information about how to
make a complaint is available
at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or 0800 802
602.
Yours sincerely
p.p.
