[FYI request #26145 email]
Tēnā koe Sam,
Your request for official information, reference: HNZ00047709
Thank you for your email on 13 May 2024, asking Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora for the
following under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act):
“How much did this IT change of system cost Health NZ and any correspondence on this, that may
or may not suggest that this change was necessary and would help in better health outcomes."
Response
Section 12(2) of the Act requires that “t
he official information requested shall be specified with due
particularity in the request”.
On 29 May 2024 we emailed you to ask you to clarify your request, in particular what “
IT change of
system” are you specifically referring to. To date we have not received your reply.
We advised you that, for context, Health NZ / Te Whatu Ora was formed from the merger of 29
separate organisations (formerly District Health Boards and other entities). This has been a very
large undertaking with many constituent elements. No element of the migration that we’ve used
external providers for immediately meets the description “
an IT company in Wellington", although
some individual elements of work were completed using external providers.
To provide information about all aspects of Health NZ IT systems would require exhaustive
research, and require us to divert staff from their normal duties. As we have not received your
clarification, your request is refused under section 18(f) of the Act, that the information cannot be
made available without substantial collation and research.
If you wish to ask for specific information, please contact us at
[email address] to
make a new request.

As this information may be of interest to other members of the public, Health NZ may proactively

contact details, will be removed prior to release.
