: [FYI request #26635 email] Tēnā koe Ali,
I refer to your information request dated 5 May 2024 made under the Official Information Act 1982
(the Act). You have requested the following information:
1. I would like to request a breakdown of the applications, offers, and admissions into the 2024
MB ChB program via the Refugee Sub-Category.
2. I would like to know the minimum, median and mean academic scores of those who were
offered a place into the program.
3. Lastly, if interviews offered for entry into MB ChB via HSFY Refugee Category applicants. If so,
in order to receive an interview does an applicant have to select Dentistry as one of their
preferred professional programme choices? (I ask this as Dentistry has an interview policy for
HSFY whereas MB ChB does not.)
We acknowledge your clarification via email on 7 May 2024 that in relation to items 1 and 2 above,
you are interested in data for Health Sciences First Year (HSFY) category applicants via the Refugee
equity group.
Subject to the following comments, please see below our response to your request.
• The data is correct as at 13 May 2024
1. The number of applicants, applicants to receive offers, and applicants admitted to the 2024
MB ChB programme via the HSFY Refugee equity group:

3. Interviews for the MB ChB programme via the HSFY entry pathway
Students applying to the MB ChB programme via the HSFY category do not need to attend any
interview regardless of equity group. Accordingly, there is no interview requirement for the Refugee
equity group via the HSFY category.
In case it is helpful, we note that all applicants to the MB ChB programme through the Alternative
category are required to attend an interview (if shortlisted for interview), regardless of equity group.
This is the only category to require an interview for the MB ChB programme.
I trust that this information will be helpful.
Ngā mihi,
Jo Pearson
