Decision to delay Pump and CGM Funding for T1 Diabetics
Fiona Smith made this Official Information request to David Seymour
This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Fiona Smith to read recent responses and update the status.
From: Fiona Smith
Dear Minister Seymour,
As you may be aware, Pharmac recently delayed the roll-out of Constant Glucose Monitors and insulin pumps for T1 diabetics following a public consultation process.
This is a matter of concern for the T1 community as many of us are either unable to access CGMs because of the cost, or are paying for these items ourselves at a time when the cost of living is placing considerable pressure on families.
Please provide under the Official Information Act any communication (including emails, briefing papers or text messages) you or your office has received providing advice or commentary around the funding of CGM and improving access to insulin pumps, including around the reasons for and the implications for the delay.
Further, please provide diary entries or meeting notes from any meetings or telephone conversations that have been held with Pharmac or any other organisation or individual about the funding of CGM and pumps and the subsequent delay in the roll out.
Thank you,
Fiona Smith
