Please provide any confirmed costs that will be incurred for breaking the contract with Hyundai Mipo Dockyard for two ships to be used as Interislander ferries.
If confirmed costs are not available, please provide any and all estimates and/or figures that Hyundai Mipo Dockyard have communicated or KiwiRail have calculated/estimated.

Thank you for your enquiry on the break costs for the ships contract with the Hyundai Mipo Dockyard.
Please be advised we are declining your request in full under Section 9(2)(j) - commercial negotiation.
This is because negotiations with the shipyard are ongoing, and we are unable to disclose any details while they continue.
This decision has been made under the OIA, and as such you have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision. Information about how to make a complaint is available at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.

I recon you chase them up about breaking contract because to me from the tone of the government that it has been broken, from how it sounds from kiwirail there is still the potential to resume the contract? Maybe I am unsure.
