Dear Andrew
OFFICIAL INFORMATION ACT COMPLAINT – Request for June 2023, September
2023, and December 2023 Quarterly Investment Reports
I refer to your request made under the Official Information Act and received on 2
August 2024. Your request was for
- copies of the Quarterly Investment Reports for
June 2023, September 2023, and December 2023. On 13 August 2024, the Treasury extended the time limit for responding to the request
by 20 working days. This was due to the consultations required to make a decision on
your request. The Treasury responded to your request on 27 September 2024
providing you with the June 2023 Quarterly Investment Report (QIR) and refusing your
requests for the September 2023 and December 2023 QIRs as they were publicly
available on the Budget 2024 Website.
On 22 October 2024, the Office of the Ombudsman advised Treasury that it was
opening an investigation into the decision to extend the timeframe of the request. On
12 December 2024, the Chief Ombudsman advised the Treasury that it was his opinion
that Treasury had failed to communicate the decision to refuse the requests for the
September and December 2023 QIRs as soon as reasonably practicable.
Following the Ombudsman’s recommendation, the Treasury apologises for not
communicating the decision to refuse your request for the September 2023 and
December 2023 QIRs under section 18(d) of the Official Information Act, as soon as
reasonably practicable.
Yours sincerely
