RC made this Official Information request to University of Otago

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for RC to read a recent response and update the status.

From: RC

Dear University of Otago,

I am writing to request information regarding slots, admissions and applications to the clinical psychology program. Please provide broken down by year and averages for the past 10 years the following statistics.

1) How many applications are received for the program.
2) How many spaces are available for the program.
3) Of the applicants and confirmed students, how many were of a Māori background.
4) Of the applicants and confirmed students, how many were of a Pacifica background.
5) Of both the applicants and confirmed students, how many identified as male, how many identified as female and how many were gender diverse.
6) Of the applicants and confirmed students, how many held a postgraduate degree.
6A) Of the students who held a postgraduate degree, what was that degree.
7) Of the applicants and confirmed students, how many had applied for the program before.
8) Does the selection process consider demographics for admissions, if so, which aspects and to what extent.

I understand that given the size of the program, some of this could be considered identifying, and if that is the case for any of this information, please provided the aggregated statistics instead.

Yours faithfully,
LC

I refer to your information request dated 16 September 2024 made under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act). You have requested information in relation to slots, admissions and applications to the clinical psychology program, broken down by year and averages for the past 10 years.

The Act requires that we advise you of our decision on your request no later than 20 working days after the date your request was received. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to meet that time limit. We are therefore writing to notify you, pursuant to section 15A of the Act, of an extension of the time to make our decision in respect of your request, by a further 20 working days - to 12 November 2024.

This extension is necessary both (i) because your request necessitates a search through a large quantity of information and meeting the original time limit would unreasonably interfere with our operations and (ii) to allow for consultations necessary to make a decision on your request. We are currently working on our response to your request, but due to the significant scope of your request and the potential privacy issues involved in a programme with a small cohort of students, we require some additional time to complete our response. We thank you for your patience.

If you are not satisfied with our extension of time, you have the right to make a complaint to the Ombudsman under section 28(3) of the Act. However, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss any concerns with you first.

Ngā mihi nui
