Thank you for your email of 15 November 2024 requesting information
regarding crashes related to temporary traffic management (TTM), which is
being considered in accordance with the Official Information Act 1982.

 

We are writing with regard to parts 1 and 2 of your request, which was
for:

 

Could you please make available all details related to reported TTM
incidents (crashes) reported to NZTA from 2015 to 2024. Ideally this would
be all the information that is on the CoPTTM Incident Report.

 

Are all the incidents within NZTA CAS?

 

It is difficult to glean from your request, in its current form, on what
specific information and documents you are seeking.  To enable us to help
you, and identify the information you are interested in, we would like you
to clarify these parts in turn as follows: 

 

1.       Can you please clarify if you are seeking information about
incidents involving roadworkers at roadworks sites, or crashes at or near
roadworks sites.  To clarify, incidents recorded on the CoPTTM Incident
database usually involve roadworkers at roadworks sites, whereas crashes
usually involve vehicles and occur in places where the public have the
right of access (for instance a road, highway or carpark), are reported to
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) by New Zealand Police in the form
of a Traffic Crash Report (TCR).  Information from TCRs is then used to
update our our Crash Analysis System (CAS), whereas incidents at roadworks
sites with TTM are usually reported to WorkSafe and recorded on the CoPTTM
Incident database.

 

2.       CAS does not record details from the CoPTTM Incident database. 
Can you please clarify if you are seeking information about crashes
involving vehicles on roads at or near roadworks sites, or incidents
involving roadworkers at roadworks sites.
