Dear Chris,
Official Information Act request relating to meetings and conference calls involving
Jacinda Ardern for the month of March 2020
Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) request received on 2 December
2024. You requested:
“… a list of all meetings and conference calls involving the Prime Minister between 1
March 2020 and 31 March 2020 inclusive. Please include the date, time, topic and the
attendees (and which organisation they were from) for each event. Where privacy of a
natural person is a problem I am happy for this to be redacted - but will require the
organisation and purpose of the meeting to be included. Similarly, the job title of any
attending public official should be mentioned. For clarity, I am not interested in press
conferences, public appearances or one-to-one incoming/outgoing phone calls. Where
a call is with a conference line bridge then this is in scope of this request. Where the
other attendees on that Conference line bridge is not part of a Public Record then this
is out of scope - noting that Minutes/Notes/MS Messenger session logs and similar are
all Public Records. Please let me know if you would like to Consult.”
I have interpreted your request as being for information about the former Prime Minister, Rt
Hon Dame Jacinda Ardern. The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC) does
not hold the information you have requested, and cannot think of any other agency that
would hold it, or to whose functions the information would be more closely connected.
Accordingly, I am refusing your request under section 18(g) of the Act as the information is
not held.
Some information related to your request may be found in the
Prime Minister Diary Summary for the month of March 2020, which is available on the Beehive website at the following
page:
Prime Minister Diary Summary. You have the right to ask the Ombudsman to investigate and review my decision under
section 28(3) of the Act.
We do not intend to publish this response on DPMC’s website.
Yours sincerely
