Hi Marty
Coming back to you regarding the cost of coffee in 90D and
- I understand these
topics have been raised in public by the Deputy Mayor as areas where the Chief Executive may wish
to scrutinise expenditure.
Enclosed are high level values, & an abbreviated summary. Note that both have also been subject to
competitive tendering processes.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Coffee:
A contract is currently being negotiated with Officemax for the provision of coffee in 90 Devonport
Road, using terms similar to that of Cameron Road and Spring St.
While most floors currently and in future will use instant coffee, the exception will be that of Level 5 in
90D where coffee beans are proposed to be used with coffee machines - this is a deliberate move
1
designed to encourage collaboration and build community across teams using the shared space to
full effect.
The estimated cost of a cup of coffee on level 5 will be 70 cents each (including coffee machine hire), while a
standard instant cup of coffee will cost 40 cents on other floors.
The contracted cost is (estimated to be) over 5 years, $93,000 per annum for the machine / coffee
beans. This is based on one cup per person per day (incorporating remote working / weekly demand
changes etc).
Assuming Council wanted to stop offering coffee bean /machines in 90 Devonport, the maximum
saving would be $66,000 per annum, assuming the machines were replaced with a standard instant
coffee.
Warm regards | Nga mihi

RE: Tender details
Hi Steve
This contract is for the supply of coffee and machines at the new Council building at Devonport Road as Council staff are
provided with hot drink options in the office buildings. The annual cost of the contract is approximately $93,000 and the
initial contract is for a three year term, with an optional extension of 1 + 1. We are receiving the coffee machines at no
cost and we pay for the coffee that is used, if we use more or less than currently used we would pay at the discounted
rate, dependant on usage

More a Sanjana,
I love the space and only added extras I would suggest (more as nice to haves) are easier access to a wharepaku and
coffee machine

Mōrena koutou
Our 90 Devonport Road transition team are interested in how you’re finding your current Councillors’ Lounge.
Are you using the space for informal catch ups, for docking your laptops and working, or would tweaks to its set up and
facilities make it more useful for you?
If you have any feedback over the coming weeks, please let me know and I’ll pass it on.
Have a great start to the week.
