Dear Department of Corrections,
I am requesting the following information under the Official Information Act 1982:
The number of asylum seekers currently imprisoned in New Zealand.
The number of individuals who have been granted asylum (i.e., recognised as refugees or protected persons) who are currently imprisoned in New Zealand.
If possible, please provide this data as at the most recent available date.
If any part of the information cannot be provided or would require substantial collation, I would appreciate any partial data or an explanation of the limitations.
The information will be used to inform an article I am preparing for publication.
Please let me know if you require any further clarification. I look forward to your response within the statutory timeframe.
